Final Day
As usual, the class started at 0900hrs. Today is the day that my group 3 is to complete the project of analysis on learning environment base on the survey result that we have completed yesterday. Dr. Quek has introduced an effective software called "SPSS" for producing a accurate analysis result from the spread sheet of the survey result. Although it was a liitle bit complicated but we still managed to get it through.

Day 4
The weather is quite cooling today. While I was driving to NIE, my daughter has called me that she has a fever. I instructed her not to attend the remedial lesson in school.
This is the Day 4 for the module on Assessing Learning Environment. The class started off with Dr. Quek given us two sets of WIHIC, a survey form for learning environment in school. We proceeded on the case study that handled to us before the end of yesterday lesson. We spent about 15 min and went on to a short presentation on our view of the case study. Just before lunch, I went on to complete the two sets of WIHIC forms based on the present learning environment that I'm on.

Day 3
I've missed the morning session of day 3 lesson because of SAF Day rehearsal at SAFTI MI. I've joined the class after lunch where Dr Quek has shown a short youtube video pertaining to a teacher lecturing a student. The groups are to discuss about the video pertaining to the learning environment under the perception of Teacher, Staudent and Learning Environment. The learning points are
1. Teacher Perspective : She was an AUTHORITARIAN. She set high demand for her student without understanding the background of him. She demonstrated negative behaviour like tearing away the project document of the student, being subjective and not objective and confronting the student in an inappropriate place.
2. Student Perspective : He tends to be defensive. He seem not understanding what ever the teacher has said. He did the project by his own way.
3. L.E. Perspective : The whole incident simply happened in a wrong place. Student shouldn't be having a camera phone and filmed down the whole incident and uploaded into the Youtube.
I thought it was a good case study because realistically it happen to the current generation. The students now a day are no longer like my time, being so fearful to the teacher. It triggered my thought that what if such incident happen to my own kids. In the second half of the afternoon session, again, the class was given 3 paper case study for reflection to be done on day 4. Although it was only half a day for me in day 3 but I thought it was very fruitful take away for me.

Day 2
I have continued to explore to Blog and managed to learn more about it. I can't deny that Blogging is a very strong tool for communication and collaboration. Dr. Quek has introduced me the study of Theo Wubbels on Learning Social Skills. My group was tasked to explore more into his research and study. After lunch, Dr. Quek has shown the class around the NTU as how the learning environment is being set up and I strongly believe it does made a big different in learning.

Day 1
This is my third module on Learning Sciences on Effective Learning Environment. I personally find that this is a very important factor that will impact the learner's learning. In fact, over my work place where I conduct MOI course for instructor, the class room was set up with much consideration on how to enhance learning especially in a Military environment. Beside using PBL method, the class room was set up in the way that totally different from the class room style that you may find in all training institute in SAF. The comments from all the course participants so far has been so encouraging and wonderful. But I believe that is not the end, there are much to improve and that is what I wish to pick up from this module so that I can go back and improve the class room setting although it seem to be quite perfect now.
